AUDITIONS

If you are interested in singing with the Phoenix Chorale, please email your résumé (with details for two professional references) and recordings of two contrasting pieces to Assistant Conductor Tom Peterson — tom@phoenixchorale.org.

Please share your recordings (and, if possible, your résumé as well) in links to files already uploaded (on YouTube, Google drive, or a personal webpage, for example), not as email attachments.

The best samples are those that demonstrate your singing in a style compatible with the Phoenix Chorale’s work. Candidates with facility in other styles (pop, jazz, opera) are encouraged to apply, but should demonstrate their abilities in an art song and choral style as well.

Singers may be considered for all regular concert series as well as special projects where an augmented number is required. The Chorale auditions even when no full positions within the 28-strong regular ensemble are available, and regularly adds singers to our wider roster. Many such roster singers are engaged on an ad hoc basis as a form of organizational training and experience, but move into full positions later on.

  • We are committed to a strong community focus and a celebration of the talented musicians residing in and around Maricopa County and, as such, prospective singers should reside either locally in the Phoenix area or within easy traveling distance by road, in order to maintain this important part of our mission.
  • Phoenix Chorale embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents our community as faithfully as possible, welcoming singers from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives across many spectrums. We recognise that the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be and the more meaningful our contribution to the choral narrative of Arizona, the United States and beyond.

Candidates may be invited to audition in-person with a small group of singers in an effort to get to know your choral musicianship, listening skills, and adaptability.

Phoenix Chorale is one of North America’s longest-lived, critically acclaimed and highly renowned professional choral ensembles. Since its founding in 1958, the ensemble has combined the highest standards of musicianship with a warm sound that instills a sense of place and belonging – in singers and patrons alike. We are proud to nurture our singers and foster meaningful collaborations with other musicians, ensembles and educational institutions in order to build community through song, and we welcome individuals who share these values and goals to apply to join us.
SCORE SUBMISSIONS

If you are interested in submitting scores to the Phoenix Chorale for consideration, please send the following: score, sample recording and your bio. Materials should be sent by email to info@phoenixchorale.org.

We will notify composers whose works have been selected to be performed.
